- Fourteen team leaders submitted their films for the DAFTAS 2021 competition
- Fifty per cent of the DAFTAS 2021 team leaders are female
- Ten of the submitted films have female-led main roles
The films are now in. The total of fourteen Team Leaders (read legends) submitted their spoofs and are now impatiently awaiting for the announcement of the shortlisted films.
With the titles including The Trial of The Marvel(lous) Seven, The Mancunian, What About Pops?, The Mound among others and no expenses spared [within the £200 film budgets] on make up and costumes for many, it will be a battle of titans.
Speaking of which, some seasoned comedians and filmmakers have entered the competition: last year’s DAFATA winner Mark Haldor has teamed up with comedian Kunt and the Gang, Artie Brennan (House of Cards), Ralph Jones (comedy writer and performer), to name just a few.
Not all of our team leaders were men of course. In fact, male-led teams made exactly half of all submissions. Among them Sally Cancello (Funny Women Award winner), 3 Menopausal Women Production and last year’s participant Ashley Jonassaint.
