The DAFTAS celebrate the best spoof of BAFTA-nominated films. And with 28 teams taking part in the film draw, 2021 promises to be a spectacular year for comedy.
Some of the names might be familiar to the comedy fans and viewers – Artie Brennan (House of Cards, American Genius), Connor Kent (Taskmaster) with his Box of Charms team, Award-winning comedians Sally Cancello with her production company Northern Soul Productions, Joel Stern, Ralph Jones to name just a few. Also, comedian and musician Künt will be working with last year’s winner Mark Haldor (The Fetishman) to write and record some hilarious original music.

The DAFTAS is a film challenge/ awards that celebrates the best spoof film of BAFTA-nominated films.

The DAFTAS is both film competition and film awards where filmmakers are tasked with producing 6-minute short spoof film of one of the BAFTA-nominates films – in two days and on a minimal budget of £200. The awards ceremony will take place on 29th of May 2021.
The DAFTAS was founded in early 2020 by a London-based publisher Tamara Orlova in memory of her late partner, celebrity and press photographer Joe Alvarez whose wit and humour used to light up London showbiz scene for over twenty years.
The DAFTAS 2020 awards were received well by the industry. With award-winning judging panel on board, the participants put a lot of hard work into their films and received very important encouragement and feedback. The inaugural awards took place in Sanctum Hotel Soho and were hosted by a stand up comedian Ruairi McInerney. The 2021 edition will take place in London on Saturday, 29th May 2021.
